Transitions
A transition is where two tracks’ clips overlap. The arrangement on top is the overview of the whole set; the detail below shows decks 1 to 4 on one timeline.
The detail follows your marker
Section titled “The detail follows your marker”- Click the ruler anywhere to put the marker there. The detail brings it into view.
- The box on the arrangement shows what the detail is looking at. Drag it to scroll, drag its handles to zoom.
- Click a block or an overlap to pick it. Clicking an overlap zooms the detail onto that transition and puts the marker at its start. While the set plays, clicking only picks it and playback carries on.
- F (Follow) keeps the playhead in the middle of the detail.
One beat grid
Section titled “One beat grid”The set has one beat grid. Its lines run through every lane, the BPM lane included, with bar arrows once at the top. Every track is beat-matched onto it, so bars line up on every deck.
Clips on a deck
Section titled “Clips on a deck”Clips here work as in the Edit view: a header to move, edges to trim, S to split, L to loop, ⌘D to duplicate, ⌘C and ⌘V to copy and paste. See Open a track. What you do belongs to this set only, never to the track’s edits.
- Dragging a track’s first clip by its header moves the whole track.
- A header dragged up or down moves the track to another deck from the bar under the pointer.
- Insert time and Delete time (⌘I, ⌘⌫) work across the whole set.
Curves
Section titled “Curves”Drag across a deck to select a stretch of the track, choose Volume, Low pass, High pass, EQ, Echo or Reverb, and draw. Everything in Curves and effects applies. A track’s curves belong to it in this set.
The BPM lane
Section titled “The BPM lane”The BPM lane is the top lane: the set’s ruler and one line of the tempo everything plays at. Its card shows the tempo at the marker and Auto BPM (⇧A).
- On: each track plays at its own tempo, with a ramp across each overlap. The line is read-only.
- Off: the lane starts from the ramps and becomes a curve you shape. Click to add points, drag them, bend a segment by its diamond, draw with Draw, double-click to remove. Heights snap to whole BPM and to each track’s own tempo. A point snapped to a track’s tempo keeps following that track.
Hear it
Section titled “Hear it”- Space plays the set from the marker.
- H hears the transition: it plays from the transition’s beginning.
- Whole-set playback renders ahead of the playhead, and keeps the tracks’ keys while it changes their tempo.
Mute and solo on a deck card are for listening only and are never saved.
