Smart crates

A smart crate lists every track that matches its rules. It updates as your library changes. Make one with ⌥⌘N, or right-click the tree and choose New smart crate.

Each rule reads as a sentence with the value editable in place, for example “Shorter than 3:00” or “Added in the last 90 days”. Add a rule from the menu. Every rule has a visible × to remove it. Most rules can be flipped to their opposite.

Rule Matches
Shorter than, Longer than Length
BPM A tempo range
Key One or more Camelot keys
Added in the last, Added more than Days since the track joined the library
Never played, Not played in, Played in the last, Played on N nights Play history read from Rekordbox
Kept, Undecided The current review’s decision
Same audio A confirmed duplicate whose other copy isn’t cut
Missing file The file isn’t where Selector Studio last saw it
Quality Is, at most or at least High, Medium or Low (only measured tracks match)
Unsteady beat grid over N ms Rekordbox’s grid strays from a steady tempo
Not in any crate In no crate at all
Marked extended Marked Extended in a review
Has an edit A saved edit exists
Not in Rekordbox No longer in Rekordbox’s collection

When a crate has more than one rule, the word between them is “and” or “or”. Click it to flip it. “And” needs every rule to match; “or” needs any one.

A smart crate you haven’t named is called by its rules, in the same words, and the name follows them as you change them. Rename it and it keeps that name from then on.

Selector Studio starts you with Recently added, Shorter than 3:00, Same audio, Missing file and Low quality. Once Selector Studio has read Rekordbox’s play history it adds Never played, Not played in a year and Most played. Delete any of them and it stays deleted.
