Keyboard shortcuts

Every shortcut is also in the command palette (⌘K), and none fires while you are typing in a text field. Each change a key makes is one undo step; holding an arrow merges into one.

Where a cell holds a dash, that screen has no such key. The Edit view and the set planner use the same keys for the same jobs.

Key Edit view Set planner
Space Play or stop Play or stop (the audition deck when it was picked last)
⌫, Delete The cue picked, else the clips picked (a laid-in lane’s last clip takes the lane; on the main track silence stays where they played), else silence over the selection, else the laid-in track picked The clips picked (a track’s last clip takes the track), else silence over the selection, else the track selected in the arrangement
⌘⌫ Delete time in the selection: the track it is on closes up, never before bar 1 Delete time in the selection, across the whole set
⌘C, ⌘X, ⌘V Copy the clips picked (several as the stretch they span), the cue picked, or the selection; Cut copies, then does what ⌫ does; Paste at the selection or the cursor, replacing what is there, into silence and past the main track’s end too (a cue keeps its kind, name, colour and loop, a hot cue taking the next free letter) Copy the clips picked (several as the stretch they span, on each track picked) or what plays across the selection (on every deck, for a stretch of the whole set); Cut copies, then does what ⌫ does; Paste at the selection or the marker: where the copy lands inside its own track on its own deck it goes back there, replacing what is there; anywhere else (the deck selected or last clicked, or past the track) it comes in as a new entry of the same track at that bar, picked and brought into view and cut short at the track’s end; several tracks copied each land on their own deck, as far apart as they were
⌘I Insert time: silence put into the whole edit at the selection’s start, else the cursor, the selection’s length, else 4 bars (the row and the right-click menu pick 1, 2, 4, 8 or 16): the main track and every laid-in lane split there, and they and their curves move later; the inverse of Delete time Insert time across the whole set at the selection’s start, else the marker: every track playing there splits, and everything after (clips, curves, the BPM lane, tracks) moves later
⇧⌘V Paste insert: Paste where Paste lands, with time put in there for the copy’s length first, so what follows moves later instead of being replaced The same across the whole set
⌘D Duplicate the clips picked right after them, as Paste would; a cue a bar later (a loop right after itself) Duplicate the clip picked last right after itself; the rest of the track and the tracks after it move later
⌘A Pick every clip of the track a clip is picked on, else the selected lane, else the main track Pick every clip on the deck of the clip picked, else of the selected track
⇧-click, ⌘-click Add a clip of the same track to the picks, or take it out Add a clip to the picks, or take it out
Tab, ⇧Tab Next or previous clip on the track, or cue, while one is picked (otherwise Tab moves focus) Next or previous clip on the deck, while a clip is picked
←, → Nudge the clips or cue picked a beat, each stopping at its neighbours and bar 1; with none, move the cursor a beat, bringing it into view Nudge the clips picked a beat (a track’s first clip moves the track, and the tracks after it follow); with none, move the marker a beat
⇧←, ⇧→ The same by a bar Nudge by a bar; with none picked, the previous or next transition
→, ← on the crate tree and the track list → on a crate goes to the tracks (the selected row, else the first); ← on a row goes back to the open crate. A folder opens first, ← on a nested crate goes to its parent. The same beside the Edit view’s tree and the set planner’s library; never in a timeline, which keeps ←/→ for nudging The same
⌫, Delete, ↑, ↓, Home, End on the crate tree With focus in the tree these keys are the tree’s, never the track list’s or a timeline’s beside it (⌘C, ⌘X and ⌘D too, which the tree has no job for yet): ⌫ and Delete delete the crate focused (every picked crate when it is one of them, one undo step); ↑, ↓, Home and End move along the tree’s rows; ⌘A picks every crate; ⌘V pastes copied tracks into the crate focused. On a row, Delete or ⌫ removes the track and focus stays on the row that took its place The same
Esc Let go of clips, cue, lane and selection Let go of clips, selection and the track selected
Home, End Cursor to the start or end Marker to the start or end
+, =, − Zoom in or out around the playhead, else the cursor Zoom the decks in or out around the playhead, else the marker
F Follow on or off Follow on or off
S, L, N, B, G Split, Loop or Clip (every clip picked; with a selection, the clip under it split around it and looped twice; with a cue picked, its loop of a bar on or off), New clip (up to eight bars looped from the cursor), Draw, Start a bar here Split, Loop or Clip (every clip picked), Draw
K Metronome on or off The same (wherever a metronome switch shows; the Crates deck has none, and K there is Keep)
⇧G, ⇧M Edit grid (again saves it; ↵ saves and Esc cancels too), Memory loop of a bar at the cursor –
C, M Hot cue, memory cue at the cursor –
[, ] One repeat fewer or more on every looping clip picked The same
↵ Rename the clip picked –
1 to 7 Select, Volume, Low pass, High pass, EQ, Echo, Reverb (nothing while Edit grid is open); 5 again with EQ chosen moves to the next band, and 3, 4, 6 or 7 again moves between the effect’s curve and its setting’s (Resonance, Feedback, Size) The same
H – Hear the transition
⇧D, ⌥⇧D – Add a deck; remove the last deck while nothing plays on it
⇧A – Auto BPM on or off
M, S, ↑, ↓ on a focused lane card Mute, solo, fader ½ dB (3 dB with ⇧); the wheel over the fader moves it, over the rest of the card the view Mute, solo (a deck has no fader)
⌥↑, ⌥↓, ⇧H, ⇧N, ⇧B on a focused laid-in lane card Pitch up, pitch down, Half time, Normal time, Double time of that lane (shown in its menu) –
⌘Z, ⇧⌘Z Undo, redo Undo, redo

The Crates list, a stick’s list, the set planner’s library and the Edit view’s list share these keys. Paste, Remove, the reorder keys and a review’s K, X and E belong to Crates alone.

Key Track lists
↑, ↓ The previous or next row
⇧↑, ⇧↓, ⇧-click, ⌘-click Pick a range of rows, or add a row to the picks
⌘A Pick every row on show (in the crate tree, every crate)
Esc Let go of the picks, back to the selected row
⌘C Copy the picked rows, else the selected one, ahead of any clip copy on the screen while a row has focus; the system clipboard gets “Artist - Title” lines
⌘V Crates: paste the copied tracks into the open crate after the selected row (at the end while sorted), or into the crate focused in the tree; one undo step
⌥↑, ⌥↓ Crates: move the picked rows one place in the crate’s own order (held, one undo step); while sorted, a toast says to clear the sort
⌫, Delete Crates: remove the picked rows from the crate
K, X, E Keep, Cut, Extended, while a review is open
F Favorite
↵ Edit
⌘N, ⇧⌘N, ⌥⌘N Crates: New crate, New folder, New smart crate
⌘F Search the list on show; Esc clears it, a second Esc goes back to the rows
⌘, Settings (as ⌥4)
⌘Z, ⇧⌘Z in Settings Undo or redo a setting

Right-click menus on the Crates screen: a row (or the picked rows, headed with their count), the whole deck, a crate or folder in the tree (a folder’s makes a crate, folder or smart crate inside it), Favorites and Collection (Review), the tree’s empty area (New crate, New folder, New smart crate), the list’s header (the open crate’s actions, Search, Clear sort) and the list’s empty area (Paste, Select all, Search). Cut and past reviews have nothing to act on, so they have no menu of their own.
