The Crates deck and the set planner’s audition deck start a track at its drop instead of the beginning. Off, they start at the beginning.

Shows a track’s cover art on the Crates deck and in the now-playing bar. Off, only text shows.

Selector Studio uses the first source that has a key for a track. Drag to reorder.

Which keys count as mixing with the playing track (shown in blue). Strict: the same key and its relative major or minor (8A and 8B). Normal: also one step either way round the wheel (7A, 9A). Loose: also two steps up, an energy boost (10A), and a semitone up or down (3A, 1A).

Choices: Strict, Normal, Loose.

Selector Studio uses the first source that has a tempo and beat grid for a track. Drag to reorder.

For a track that could be counted either way (about 78 to 88 BPM, or 156 to 176), which one Selector’s grid uses. A track with a kick on every beat of the faster tempo is always counted at it.

Choices: Prefer half time, Prefer double time.

While the Beat grid add-on isn’t installed, a track with no tempo offers it in the Edit view and in Next. Off, it’s only under Add-ons.

Selector Studio grades a file by its bit rate and by how much of the spectrum is really in the audio, so a lossy copy re-saved as lossless, or at a higher bit rate, is graded as what it is.

Lossy files at or above this bit rate, with the full spectrum, are High.

From here up to High is Medium; under it is Low.

Selector draws the low, mid and high bands in tones of one colour, so colour stays free for loops, cues and vocals. Rekordbox 3-band uses Rekordbox’s blue lows, amber mids and white highs. RGB colours each moment by its balance of lows (red), mids (green) and highs (blue), as Rekordbox’s RGB waveform does.

Choices: Selector, Rekordbox 3-band, RGB.

Bars are rounded bars on the beat. Dense draws a column for every pixel, as Rekordbox does. Continuous is one smooth, solid shape.

Choices: Bars, Dense, Continuous.

Draws each waveform mirrored about a centre line. Off, it grows up from a baseline, as Rekordbox’s overview does.

Choices: Light, Dark.

Choices: Compact, Default, Comfortable.

Shares which screens and commands you use, and any errors, stalls and crashes, with an anonymous install ID, so problems can be found and fixed. Track names and file paths are left out.

Works out beat grids, keys, waveforms, quality and energy again for every track not cut, in the background while you keep working. Your crates, reviews, cues, edits and sets stay.

Selector Studio looks for a newer version now and then and downloads it in the background. Update ready in the status bar then shows what’s new; Restart installs it, once no Sync, Save or Export is running.

Selector Studio keeps its own copies of stems, audio cache, artwork, USB renders. Each has a Clear button and shows its size. Clears Selector Studio’s copies; your music files stay.
